My Project

STEM education will provide my students with a strong foundation in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. I would like to provide my students with hands-on lessons and experiences that foster an interest in the area of STEM. The coronavirus has sparked an interest in science for many of my students. I would like my students to learn how air purifiers work by making an air purifier out of a box fan and filters.

We will be discussing the importance of clean air during flu season so it will be perfect for them to see a real air purifier in action.

The Merv 13 filters will be used to build the purifier. Our classroom learning will become alive right before their eyes! They will learn the science behind how air purifiers reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 and thus, feel much safer in the classroom. My students will be amazed that this purifier can can remove over 99% of contaminants from the air, including the respiratory droplets and aerosols coming from talking, singing, and breathing that spread the virus. Thank you for supporting my students in science!
