This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are creative, energetic and love hands on learning. They love working with a variety of materials to express themselves and show the world how brilliant they are. We are located in Cleveland, Ohio in a high poverty area. I serve over 400 pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students with a wide variety of interests. They come to school ready to try new things and experiment with different art materials to engage in learning. I love my students and they deserve the very best education we can give them!
My Project
My students love hands on learning that is different from their everyday classroom environment. Clay has the ability to engage them like no other material can. This project would give me the opportunity to share ceramics with them and create some great works of art. My students love creating things from clay, creating art that they will keep for a lifetime.
I would like to engage my students in STEAM assignments to bring science and math into the art classroom through clay projects that explore creating sound.
Creating memorable learning through projects helps students make connections and gain a deeper understanding of their learning.
