My Project

Welcome to Reading Major! Our students are working hard this year to make reading progress in preparation for High School. In this co-taught class, we break down reading skills and strategies so that students can reading critically and dip deeper across their major curricular classes. Our students are the best there are! They come to class every day, pushing through difficult content with the end-goal in mind. They appreciate meaningful and engaging tasks that assist their understanding of the skills.

This project will benefit all of our students both this year and moving forward!

The first items up on our list are some materials needed to update our bulletin boards. The students have been working very hard this year to meet their reading goals. Each class has a "bookshelf" in which they write the title of the books that they read so far this year. Students have been motivated to read so many books this year, that we ran out of space on our "shelves!" We would like to extend the bulletin board as the students love seeing their accomplishments are they continue to grow!

In addition to this, our students also have been actively reading so much this year that we are running low on our highlighters. Can you believe it! They are doing such an amazing job. We would like to continue to encourage them to read actively by giving them access to the tools that they need.

Lastly, we have a classroom cart on our project list that will benefit our Reading Olympics team and one of our Homeroom Clubs by providing the availability to transport items to different parts of the building. Flexibility is key in this profession!
