We have a class of nearly 700 8th graders and it is difficult to reach each one individually, making them each feel supported.\r\n\r\nThe conversation starter cubes are an excellent vehicle to facilitate our small groups conversations. Many students are reticent to speak up on their own, but once offered a prompt, they feel more comfortable to participate in the conversation. These will be priceless for our programs!\r\n\r\nAs you are aware, anxiety is a huge issue in our society for young and adult people alike. Whatever we can offer our students to de-escalate when they are feeling anxious, is a plus. These rain sticks are a game changer! My students are already reaching for them when they enter my office for some counsel. I LOVE them!\r\n\r\nThe HBCC journals are a great addition to my journal collection. I commonly suggest journaling as a strategy for student to process their feelings. At this age, young people have a lot of thoughts and a lot of feelings, but their comfort level to verbalize them are minimal. As much as they all enjoy playing the guitar, having the opportunity to play on a quality instrument (that looks really cool) is a new hook that gets the kids interested in playing. \r\n\r\n With this kit, students will be able to play outside of class, in class, and eventually in an extra-curricular capacity as students gain more and more of an interest in the modern band trend. These are much more durable than the softcover books that often get a little torn up in an 8th graders backpack. These hardcovers will allow students to catch up whenever they miss class with a copy that stays in good condition.
