My students need Paper Mate markers for writing, magnetic folder bins for missed work, and classroom supply caddies to hold pencils and miscellaneous items on our desks.
Every morning in my classroom I start off by greeting each student with a hello! I believe as a teacher it is important to recognize each student by name, giving them a sense of worth in my classroom. I want students to feel valued and cared for!
I teach at a school in Seattle, Washington.
My students come from a diverse background. At our school we have a high population of homeless students. We have a diverse group of students who come in at all different levels and abilities. My classroom has 25 students in it. The community I work in is a welcoming, warm, and compassionate community.
My Project
This will be my first year at this school. I have currently just transferred to this school. When entering my classroom I walked into a blank canvas, which sometimes can be great, but other times it means I have a lot of supplies I need to get. With the materials requested I will be able to start off my classroom with some foundational supplies I need to start up my classroom. The caddies I requested are going to be used to help students have the supplies they need at their tables because I don't have desks with insides for students to keep things. I will also be using the book cart for our leveled library so that students can have access to our books and have a cart where they can get all their books to take home and read at home.
This project will help improve my classroom by giving students bins to put their supplies in at their tables and having a warm classroom which has supplies to help them complete tasks.
