My Students

My students value the relationship they have with me and other teachers at my school. We trust the students to follow their interests and passions and they trust us to be vulnerable in asking questions. Our classrooms are an enriching environment that invite exploration and questioning.

Our students know that their teachers will provide opportunities to extend their learning within their interests and opportunities to discover something new.

Each year my classroom changes based on what students I get and what particular interests they have.

I try my best to provide items in my classroom that allow students to play and talk to each other about. Some items are related to the curriculum I teach, like anatomical models. Other items aren't necessarily related to curriculum, but get students using their brains in unique ways, such as my classroom set of Rubik's cubes.

My Project

This life size articulated skeleton will be a valuable addition to my human anatomy and physiology classroom. In the past, we've had to rent disarticulated bones from the local university for the weeks that we learn about the skeletal system. My anatomy students are able to connect the concepts about bone landmarks and articulations by holding the physical bones in their hands and seeing them in real life and connecting them to the diagrams I show in 2D.

This skeleton will be used in many different ways in my classroom.

It will be valuable for learning about the skeletal system, and I would also use it as a reference for locations in the body when we discuss other systems of the body too. I also teach other classes and clubs in my classroom, and this skeleton will be a great invitation for students to explore and ask questions and start discussions.
