Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting specific sensory items for my students who have behavioral and sensory needs. My students will use these items to help keep them on task. Many of my students struggle with oral fixation and use gum or chew on classroom items. It is hard for some of them to focus when they don't have a replacement for this, and I don't want them chewing on unsafe items or clothing. They also have struggles with fidgeting and touching other items that are not theirs. Some of them also have issues with ripping up materials and using pencils.

I will use fidgets, chewys, headphones, timers, and laminated items to help minimize their struggles while they are in my classroom.

All these items will help reduce anxiety and non-preferred behaviors while in my classroom and make school a safe and comfortable place for them. When children are more comfortable and productive, they tend to be more successful and happy students.
