My Students

I have a wonderful group of students who have created a fun and motivating learning community. Throughout the day, students can be seen working and creating at their tables, reading in the library corner, writing and drawing at the writing center, and using their imagination in the kitchen and art centers. One area of the classroom that students would benefit from an improvement would be when we gather on the floor. A classroom rug will allow us to increase the feel of our classroom community as we partake in calendar, whole group instruction, circle time and story time.

My Project

My class always starts our morning together on the floor. A comfortable rug with a well defined area for each student will help to provide students with the space and comfort they need to begin their day.

A class favorite, story time, is another part of the day where students will benefit from a classroom rug.

The rug is set up in a way where each student will be surrounded by others to have conversation partners as we read through and discuss stories. The rug will also help with student behavior, as students will visually see how they can stay in their own "personal space bubble."
