My students are third graders from a rural school in West Plains, Missouri. They are eager learners and are working hard to become more independent. I want my students to enjoy their time being kids in the classroom.
So many students that come into the classroom need a place they can feel at home, feel safe, and feel they have some ownership in their surroundings.
Homelessness is an unfortunate circumstance that some of our students experience and the school is their safe place. The school feels like their new home. I would like to make all of my students feel successful in the classroom by providing them with materials they can use.
My Project
I am asking for a classroom rug with designated seat spots for whole group instruction.
The majority of our new learning content is taught at the carpet.
It allows us to be together, take notes, discuss, and ask questions. In third grade, we learn a lot of new topics. Especially in math. We discuss financial literacy, multiplication, division, estimation, rounding, area, perimeter, fractions, and elapsed time. All of these topics are brand new and require us to spend a lot of time discussing it as a group. A new classroom carpet would be a great feature to add to help my students focus on the lesson.
