My students have mild to moderate disabilities, specifically Autism. They are seven to eleven years old and their grade ranges are from third to fifth grade. These students are amazing! My students come from diverse backgrounds, are very creative and have unique strengths. They attend my class daily but also have opportunities to be included with their grade level peers in other classes.
I enjoy helping my students improve on their strengths, explore their creativity and appropriately challenge their needs.
Every child in my class has a huge heart! They are motivated, hard-working students who listen and follow directions. They love and benefit from anything related to technology, music and art.
My students need to sit closer to the white board so they can improve their skills in reading, writing, math and science. I teach many whole group lessons using the whiteboard and having a rug within close proximity to the whiteboard, will help my students sit, focus and stay engaged during instruction.
Not only will a classroom rug help with learning, but can support my students with transitioning, and make it comfortable for them when sitting for longer periods of time.
The rug is an essential element in many elementary classrooms because it brings students together for purposes such as story time, social/circle time and academic instruction.
