Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our school is a place where students come to learn and to also feel appreciated. As a teacher, I not only want my students to have respect for adults in the building but also for their fellow classmates. As teachers we want our students to achieve in academics as well as socially.

I want my classroom to be a place where all student feel safe and equal.

The students in my classroom are diverse students. Some are supported, with involved families and other are not. I want all my students no matter the background to feel involved with their own learning experiences.

My Project

Students of the elementary age love to be able to get up, move around and have a choice in their seating. In our classroom, we have tile flooring which makes it cold and uncomfortable to sit on the ground. The rugs and yoga mats requested would be used for students to comfortably sit on the floor and still be able to move them as needed.

Flexible seating can help students focus more on their tasks and assignments.

The floor chairs can be used to move to the front of the classroom for lessons and even take outside if we need to.

Giving students the choice and variety of seating will be creating a more positive environment in my classroom.
