A new newsroom is being built as we speak, we are only lacking the video camera! Lights, ______, Action!

I teach high school social studies in a Kx12 school. I usually have my students research and report current events in my Modern World History class. In an effort to liven it up a bit and make the process more effective I will be asking the students to record their weekly current events in a broadcasts that we will then share with all the younger grades. At a Kx12 school we are constantly looking for ways to engage in cross grade activities and I see this as a perfect opportunity.

The only resources I need to get started with this project is the video camera to film it all on! Having a "real" audience for their work will increase the quality of work that my students produce, and it will begin engaging younger students in world events.

This project is a fairly low maintenance, high reward project, once it gets started. After the students and I get it started I envision them being able to do the weekly research, prepare their broadcasts, film, edit, upload, and send the news broadcast to the other teachers. The funding for the camera is the one hurdle I'm currently facing and your donation will make it possible to get the ball rolling!
