Hi! I am so excited because in four weeks I will have completed my first year of teaching!! It has been both challenging and INCREDIBLY rewarding. Looking back, I have learned more than my students possibly could have this year... about children, about love, about teaching, and most importantly, about myself. I am writing this proposal to request a few badly needed items for my classroom. Over the course of the year I have discovered that I need an electric pencil sharpener, a printer for my students to use and a gift card to purchase books for my classroom library. First of all, I am requesting an electric pencil sharpener because sharpening pencils has become a great distraction and greatly hampers our class routine each morning. If we had an electric sharpener, one student could quickly take up and sharpen students' pencils for the next day. What a relief this would provide to an unorganized, ineffective classroom routine we currently have. Secondly, I am asking for a printer for my students to use. Throughout the year we have done several research projects that required the students to find and print information from the computer. Students are only allowed to use the computer lab during specified, scheduled time. If my students had their own printer in the classroom to use, they could more easily complete these projects. Also, I would like to provide the opportunity to use internet for research to students who finish their work early or want to extend a project further. Finally, and most importantly, I am asking for a gift card to a book store to add to my classroom library. While our school library has an abundance of books, I would like to increase my own collection in the room. These books would be availble for students to read independently and organized according to reading levels. I need to purchase a variety of books for students of different reading levels and different interests. Most of the books left in my classroom from another teacher are old, outdated and in poor shape. These books would be used during read aloud time as well as during silent, independent reading. Thank you so much for your consideration.
