This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What was your favorite math class? What did it look like? What did it sound like? In order to continuously increase my students' performance and understanding of math I would like for my students to have at their disposal dry erase boards in order to quickly and effectively check for understanding.

My students are part of the graduating college class of 2017 and 2018.

Part of the YES Prep mission is to achieve college-ready students from low-income neighborhoods of Houston. As highly motivated students, with low resources, they work hard everyday in order to achieve their goals.

My Project

In Pre-Calculus, as well as AP Statistics, the students will use their dry erase boards to reach their goals of being AP and college ready! Throughout the lesson students will be asked to, rigorously develop their mathematical process and display their thinking as a quick way of checking for understanding. At the end of the lesson, students will be able to summarize their learning for the day and present it to the class in an effective and engaging way.

This project is important because it will allow for the implementation of engaging and rigorous expectations for all students.

As well, this project will allow for effective methods of checking for understanding in the classroom.
