My Project

Help... my 1st Grade and 2nd Grade Combo class is in need of a makeover! The carpets that the students sit on are probably considered "vintage." Yes, one of the carpets still has "Pluto" pictured as a planet. Some students would even prefer sitting at their desks, rather than joining their classmates in group learning. Whether reading, writing, or doing math, facilitating student collaboration and providing flexible and alternative seating options are important. Hopefully, having new carpets and seat cushions will be more welcoming and inviting for student engagement and social interaction.

Teaching two grade levels at the same time also involves extra supplies and materials.

The wire racks that are currently being used are starting to snap apart and sink to the floor. Supplies are squished, stacked, and squeezed together. Hence, two extra shelves would be beneficial in organizing all the additional books, papers, and project materials that are needed. Having tools, supplies and materials that are easily accesssible may benefit everyone in the class. Creating a fresh, clear, and colorful learning space will definitely be a positive perk for all of us!
