My students need a Classic Birch Sign-In Communication Station (also known as mailboxes). This will be used to store students' folders, completed work, and post reminders about our day! In first grade, organization is KEY!
First grade is an exciting year! Students are growing as readers, writers, and mathematicians every day! They are learning to work collaboratively, problem solve, and building independence. My goal is to create a classroom environment where all students feel safe and respected.
Our school population is unique, as 1 in 4 students are military connected!
We work hard to make all students feel welcome and "at home."
My school works hard to ensure that ALL students needs are met, both academically, emotionally, and socially!
My Project
When first graders enter the classroom, they have a LOT of jobs to do! These jobs include, unpacking their backpack, putting away their folder, turning in their homework, making a lunch choice, and getting started on their morning work! Routines and organization are KEY to first graders' success! My first graders need a new mailbox system to help streamline our "morning routines."
It is hard to stay organized without the right materials!
My students are currently using an old mailbox system that is too small for their homework folders! Due to students' homework folders and "mail" being in two different spots, many students forget to check their mail at the end of the day! When students DO check their mail, the bottom of their mailbox often falls out, which results in mixed up mail and confusion!
We need a new mailbox system so that all of our materials can be in one place. This mailbox system also has a place for me to write announcements about our day. Students thrive on routine and organization! I'd like to take some of the confusion out of our morning/afternoon routines!
