This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Help build our background knowledge. Science is often a foreign language to students and it's even more difficult when you're trying to learn English.

My students are very inquisitive but lack the background in a formal science class.

They attend an inner city Title One school. The majority of my students are on free or reduced lunch and approximately half of them are in a stage of the English Language Learner program. My students need help making real connections with science content to increase their scientific literacy.

My Project

Life Science is a complicated topic for any student to learn, when you have little background in science it makes it even more difficult. These resources will help students make connections to complicated concepts in a fun way. The activity books will give my students the ability to apply what they are learning in class to actual experiments and increase their inquiry skills. Questioning is a very valuable science skill and these resources will help them ask well constructed questions.

My class is at a pivotal age for science instruction.

When students understand what is going on around them, they get excited about learning science. Middle school has many confusing variables. Help me make something a little easier on them.
