This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are a creative, joyful, diverse group of young learners. They love listening to stories, singing songs, growing plants, and getting to know each other in our community.

They are the next generation of Washingtonians -- proud, joyful, diverse, aware, explorers of their world.

Hailing from all 8 wards of the District, my students reflect a hopeful picture of the future. They are enthusiastic learners, aware young citizens, joyful community members and curious explorers. They appreciate any and all of your generosity!

My Project

Do you remember sitting as a child and wanting nothing more than to read your favorite book over and over and over again? Maybe it was The Snowy Day or Blueberries for Sal. Maybe you were more of a Dr. Seuss fan. Each of us were guided to literacy and reading from falling in love with our favorite stories.

My young students, just 3 years old, crave stories and characters that speak to their world.

Your contribution to our library will help them fall in love with books and their world -- the most important thing a 3 year old can do!
