My Students

I am a 5th grade teacher at a Title I school in New Jersey. Since it is summer, I haven't met my students yet! However, based on the area that I teach in, my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are therefore faced with many challenges on a daily basis.

I strive to create a welcoming space for my students, so that they can come into our classroom everyday and focus on school in a warm and loving environment.

My Project

I love to create a space that is bright, fun and welcoming. I want my students to feel comfortable and to enjoy coming to school. One way that I would like to do that is by having different areas in the room where the students are able to enjoy the learning process.

Having this rug will allow me to brighten up our classroom library and create a fun area to cultivate learning.

Not only will the students be able to sit on the carpet to enjoy a good book, but this will be an area where students can partner up and talk about any topic that we are working on.
