The students in my first grade class are at many different academic, social and behavioral levels. Some students are coming with a diagnosis of some sort that gives them special instruction throughout the day.
My students are energetic, enthusiastic about learning and come to school ready to learn every day!
Every student will benefit from having the ability to choose in which seating option they will learn best.
Every student in my class is unique and creating a community is essential to our success as a family. By giving them tools to regulate their learning, it helps to foster the ability to be the best they can be every day.
What I love best about my first graders is that they are ready and willing to take on my challenges and we work together as a group to accomplish goals that we set as a class!
My Project
Flexible seating in classrooms gives students a choice of what kind of learning space works best for them and helps them to work collaboratively and engage in critical thinking. Flexible seating allows students to self-regulate their comfort during the day and better focus on the academic task at hand.
Research has shown that students who are in a flexible classroom have seen an increase in student achievement, motivation and engagement.
Wobble stools and wiggle cushions will be added to the class setting to offer two more choices to the students.
Adding flexible seating will help foster a student-centered atmosphere. By adding the flexible seating, we will encourage movement that will boost not only student health but also academic achievement.
