Flexible seating in classrooms gives students a choice of what kind of learning space works best for them and helps them to work collaboratively and engage in critical thinking. Flexible seating allows students to self-regulate their comfort during the day and better focus on the academic task at hand. Research has shown that students who are in a flexible classroom have seen an increase in student achievement, motivation and engagement. Wobble stools and wiggle cushions will be added to the class setting to offer two more choices to the students. Adding flexible seating will help foster a student-centered atmosphere. By adding the flexible seating, we will encourage movement that will boost not only student health but also academic achievement.
