I teach High School Algebra, Geometry, and Food Safety to freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The students at my school come from both rural and urban parts of Kentucky and some need intensive therapeutic support to overcome the effects of abuse, neglect, or other family crisis situations.
My Project
Students come to school with a wide range of ability levels and special needs. The items in my project will provide a relaxing and safe classroom where they students can focus on their work and develop the skills they need to be successful.
In our classroom, the students feel at home.
They have the tools they need to stay engaged in their work and develop skills to ignore distractions. The seating, resistance bands, fidget tools, and timers, in particular assist, with self-regulation and self-awareness. By creating a soothing and welcoming environment, my students will continue to grow in their academic and social skills.
