Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Remember the irritating sound of nails on a chalkboard? You don't hear it anymore in most classrooms because chalkboards have been replaced by Smart Boards. The new annoying classroom sound is chairs sliding across the floor. A great way to muffle the sound is by placing tennis balls on the feet of the chairs. The balls allow the chairs to slide quietly and reduce the distracting noise.

The upcoming school year will new for me in so many ways: new grade level, new classroom, new curriculum, and, of course, new students.

Our school's cleaning staff works so hard over the summer, cleaning the building from top to bottom. The tennis balls will allow my students to quietly move their chairs around the classroom while protecting the newly waxed floors.

An electric pencil sharpener is a must have in any classroom. My students will be able to sharpen pencils each morning in preparation for the day's lessons. The speaker will make it easier for my students to hear the content-related videos we watch on the Smart Board. The classroom timer will be helpful during independent work time by giving my students a visual reminder of how much work time remains.

As this school year comes to an end, I am looking forward to the new adventure coming in August. Having these classroom essentials ready for the first day of school will set the tone for a great school year!
