I teach at a Title I elementary school in rural Texas. All of our students receive a free breakfast. We have a high population of students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. I teach students who come from various socioeconomic households, who sometimes lack the needed support at home. Despite setbacks, I am so thankful that they come to school eager to learn and do their personal best.
I want each of my students to know they can achieve success and that I believe in each of them.
We are a diverse community of learners reaching across the spectrum of ability levels, race, and socioeconomic levels. My second graders are excited about learning. Together we are working as a team in order to show growth and reach the goals we have set.
These materials are so needed for my reading stations. I want my students to learn and love nonfiction reading. Since our school wants to have the children exposed to more expository text this will be another way to implement this in my classroom. I love that there will be a wide range of various topics for my star students to choose from in this comprehension reading set.
Reading is essential and a very important part of second graders lives.
Reading is in every subject and is used every day. The pockets will be used to hold some of the nonfiction reading cards that will be placed in a station. Some of the students will work with me in small groups to build their comprehension levels as they read the nonfiction cards. The headphones will also be used in a listening station and when the Chromebooks are used in reading and other academic areas. These resources will increase my students' awareness of nonfiction materials and help build their comprehension.
