My Students

I teach third grade at a Title I school where my students are not provided many opportunities that some of their more affluent peers are provided. Many come from one-parent families or are raised by grandparents or other family members. Some are refugees from war-torn countries.

Even with all of that, one thing they all have in common is their love to learn!

They are excited and engaged when something interests them, but in order to help keep them engaged, they need resources like up-to-date books and other materials that their parents cannot often afford. So I have to rely on sites like DonorsChoose or use my own funds to help provide opportunities for my students.

My Project

Markers, Binders, Plastic Sleeves... these are some of the basic supplies we need in order to make our classroom ready. Organization is an extremely important tool that I teach my students. It is one that they take with them the rest of their life. Learning on a daily basis can be tough, and it can be made a bit easier with some basic supplies like these.

Supplies like these will optimize our classroom for learning.

Also, graphic novels are the books that I can't get enough of in my room. Every time I add one to my collection, my students fight over them! They create a list for each book to keep track of who would get the books next. I can't wait to be able to surprise my class with a ton of new graphic novels to start a "wildfire" of reading in my classroom.
