My Students

Baking cakes with Mom, pastries with Dad, and Army-sized meals with Great Granny-these are a few of my fondest childhood memories. Students today do not have many opportunities to experiment with measuring, cooking, and taste-testing. Classroom Cookery would fill their minds and their tummies!

I am fortunate to work in a school where I have daily opportunities to make a difference in a child's life.

My third-graders represent a variety of ethnicities and backgrounds. More than 90% of the families I serve qualify for free or reduced meals. They live in poverty and, at times, school is the only constant in their lives. My approach to reaching them is to provide meaningful and practical experiences - explaining why algebra is important and what purpose vocabulary will serve them in 30 years. We laugh and learn together as we strive to become knowledgeable and productive members of our society.

My Project

No Bake Cookies on a Friday afternoon. Pancakes and bacon on a wintry Tuesday morning. Spaghetti and meatballs just because. These are just a few of the experiences that your support will finance and enable. Oh, and I almost forgot, "Polar Express" Hot Chocolate on the day before Winter Break!

Can you recall sitting around the dinner table when you were young?

The aromas, textures, and tastes you helped your parents to create and enjoy? Your support of Classroom Cookery will bring these same experiences to a delightful group of third-grade ladies and gentlemen. Your support will provide concrete math, science, and socialization activities. Great recipes and great memories too!
