My Project

My 20 third-graders are a high-energy "ohana" in the heart of Hawaii. They are moving away from teacher-led instruction and toward becoming independent learners. Our classroom is a place of "aloha," where we support one another, but with a small space and a tropical climate, staying organized and keeping our materials in good shape is a constant challenge!

The "magic" of a high-functioning classroom often lies in the details that keep things moving smoothly.

I am requesting a variety of organizational and time-management tools to help my students take ownership of their learning and keep our space focused.

The "Humidity Heroes" (Laminator & Erasers): In Hawaii, the humidity can be tough on paper. A laminator will help me create durable "office folders" and reusable math mats that last all year. Erasers are essential for 3rd-grade math and writing as they don't smudge or tear the paper.

Visual Transitions (Large Sand Timers): 3rd graders are still mastering time management. These large visual timers allow my students to "see" how much time they have left for centers, helping them transition calmly.

A Place for Everything (Rotating Bookshelves, Rolling Cart & Organizer Trays): The rotating bookshelf will give our 20 readers easy access to books without crowding and the rolling cart will make our daily supplies easily accessible. The organizer trays will streamline our daily routines for all "must do" work.
