Classroom Carpet Needed for Teaching and Building a Classroom Community
My students need a carpet to sit on for whole group lessons and classroom meetings. It is something we will use every day! The colored squares help kids know where their own space is.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Harrop's classroom raised $657

My Students
This will be my first year teaching. I just graduated from the University of Washington with my masters in teaching this June. I will begin my first experience as a lead teacher at a school in Renton, Washington.
I will be at a Title I school, serving a diverse group of 4th graders.
I am hoping to use DonorsChoose to help me get my classroom ready for my first year of teaching! As I am a first year teacher, I haven't worked at this school before, so I will add more details about my specific students as I get to know them!
My Project
This carpet will be used every day by my students. Students will gather on the carpet for mini lessons, read alouds, sharing their own writing, and classroom meetings.
It will be a place for everyone to gather to learn academic content, as well as building connections and a sense of community between the students and myself.
Whole group lessons on the carpet provide students the opportunity to get to know their peers and hear ideas they wouldn't otherwise during small group work (which is often broken up based on ability), or independent work. Thank you in advance for helping fund my project!
