This is my second year of teaching math only in third grade, and your contributions allowed me to set my students up for success! I'm assuming if you are donating to classroom projects, you are aware of the amount of money teachers generally spend each year to fill needs in our classroom that aren't met by education budgets. This project would not have been possible without your donations!\r\n\r\nMy students have been using the materials this project provided daily! Each morning, after we finish our \"math talk,\" students go to our math center and choose a math game to work on. Because we have these supplies, all of our math games are organized in tubs. Students are able to walk to the centers, grab a game, and get started quickly. They love playing math games, and these materials have made the games much more accessible to them! They are also able to save unfinished games for a later time, which I have been unable to do in my classroom in the past. \r\n\r\nIn addition to the storage tubs and labels, your donations provided white board erasers and headphones for our classroom. Students use the white board erasers daily as they work on both personal and vertical whiteboards. We created bulletin boards to display all our new learning. \r\nYour contributions to our classroom has our 3rd graders so excited to use colorful pens as they wrote new details in their drafts. The sharpeners are used multiple times a day every day. \r\nDuring reading time, our students are walking up to our bulletin boards to use anchor charts and review the days objectives. Partially because of your generous donations to my Kindergarten Lending Library. 85% of students reached end of year Kindergarten reading expectations and 60% are currently reading above Kindergarten expectations. This means that most students can read CVC words, like cat, have 50-100 words they can read automatically, and can retell the story they read. Over half of the students are reading words with endings (s, ing, ed), have 100-250 words that they can read automatically, read smoothy, and retell the story. \r\nStudents are excited to read at all times of the day. I have received reports of students waking up early just to read with their parents. Students beg to read in the classroom during quiet times. Students beg for more books in the middle of the week because they have already read their share multiple times. \r\nI am honored to witness the excitement, natural curiosity, and pride that these students exhibit toward reading.
