Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Valencia's 3-5 grade Intensive Intervention is a safe place for Second Language Learners to feel loved and nurtured while they learn and explore listening, reading, writing and speaking English for the first time. My students come from a variety of places around the world with a wide range of circumstances that make them unique. Currently we have seven languages represented within our class of learners.
My class goals include providing students a firm academic foundation using curriculum designed for new English Learners.
My focus will also be on helping students develop English language proficiency, while supporting social skill development through specifically designed instruction, modeling and daily interactions with peers.
My classroom will serve as a welcoming place where cultivating a home/school relationship with parents is a priority.
My Project
A welcoming book nook can serve as a place to interact with peers and practice reading skills and make a difference in our classroom . Shelving, rug, and pillows are a great way to invite students over to pick up a book.
This donation will greatly improve our classroom atmosphere, making a welcoming place for students to feel safe to learn.
Students will be eager to engage in learning activities with the addition of these donations.
This is the first American classroom that many of my students will have been in. How students feel in their classroom will directly relate to how they except learning English in a new place.
