My Students

My students are from the five boroughs of New York City. We are part of District 75, which is a high needs special education district serving the highest needs students. District 75 serves students on the autism spectrum, students who have significant cognitive delays, are significantly emotionally challenged, have a sensory impairment or have multiple disabilities, and who also come from an economically disadvantaged background.

The students in my class are on the autism spectrum and we like to learn and do things outside of the box.

We do a lot of hands on activities, vocational training, and community preparedness activities. It is important to help our students best prepare themselves for their future with the skills and knowledge to do so.

My Project

It’s often been said that you can’t put a price on education, but what about the out-of-pocket classroom expenses incurred by educators each year? Many teachers, especially in urban schools, are working with at-risk students with very few of the necessary resources to support them. As a new teacher setting up a classroom, there’s a myriad of products that can improve the atmosphere and instructional possibilities of the educational environment. Keeping students’ creativity alive starts with having the right tools and supplies on hand when a project comes up. From construction paper to crayons, markers, and colored pencils a teacher needs to make sure they have everything they need for the artists in the classroom.
