Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My English Language Learners will learn many new concepts this school year. First grade students are mastering making tens, learning how addition and subtraction are related, and how to use various ways to represent numbers and word problems.

These two sided math dry erase boards will give my students the visual representations they need for math to make sense, with the ease and flexibility to make changes as they learn.

First graders still use concrete models, rather than abstract ideas to deepen their understanding. Having these white boards, and colorful markers will give the students the tools they need to successfully make sense of these new concepts.

Whiteboards are an essential part of today's classroom. They work very well with students who are afraid to make mistakes. They can be erased, and answers modified as students work through their ideas. This makes them an ideal tool for math instruction. Getting students to write out their ideas as they think through their problems gives them the tools and strategies they will use throughout their educational journey. Fun and colorful markers gives them the extra burst of fun as they learn.
