This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever run out of time when you were working on something important? Well, we do that all the time. I have 6 groups of students, for 45 minutes each and time is of the essence!

I have fabulous first and second graders in a high poverty, high minority school.

English is a second language for nearly all of my students. They are all low performers in reading or math and see me for extra intervention. We are in the Metro Atlanta area.

My Project

We are looking for ways to save time and use our time every day. We need that electric pencil sharpener because little hands have trouble with the big crank pencil sharpener on the wall. We don't have any time to waste sharpening those broken pencil points. We are looking for a circle time rug so we have a clean place on the floor to spend time together to practice our letters, sounds, words and stories. Right now, we are sitting on the dirty carpet that we walk on with dirty shoes since we are outside in a trailer. We need timers to start timing ourselves reading letters, words and stories to show how much we are improving each and every day! We need a class timer to keep us on track during learning centers, where we spend time practicing all those important skills we are learning.

This is so important for us because we really do need every second of our time.

We are making great strides, and having the right materials to help us use our time most efficiently will help us become soaring students and super citizens!
