My Students

I LOVE teaching third graders! They are so excited to move up to our 3-5 intermediate school which has about 400 students. Our small rural community is growing in numbers and diversity. The third graders start each day with smiles on their faces and eager to learn. I full heartedly believe in teaching kids about how they learn, understanding what it means to have a growth mindset and realizing that it's necessary to struggle through new material before you can retain that knowledge.

It's priceless to watch the kids when they're learning something new or have just solved a challenging problem.

In our classroom, the kids are welcome to spread out around the room when it's work time. They like having their own special place where they focus on their lesson.

My Project

Help me give my students some comfortable desk chairs to use in our classroom. These chairs are ergo designed for the student's comfort. They even have a slight bounce to help with movement.

Comfortable furniture goes hand in hand with the concept of active learning.

Research shows that kids do better work when they are comfortable. As adults, we can agree that we do our best work when we're comfortable and relaxed.

I was lucky enough to have my Donors Choose project fully funded last year to get a new class set of these awesome chairs. But this year I have 6 more students, so I'd love to increase my class set of chairs to match this increase in class size.
