This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am excited to be starting a band and strings program at my school. Most of my students have not had the opportunity to play an instrument nor can their families afford one for home. They are hard-working and eager to be able to play instruments. The school provided a lot of instruments for the students, but it is not enough for everyone that would like to sign up or have already signed up to fit class size.
Every donation counts in making my students succeed and being able to have the opportunity to play an instrument for the first time.
I am very excited and grateful to have the privilege of working with these young and bright individuals every day.
My Project
Most of my students have never played instruments before. The school board helped out a lot with buying a lot of the instruments, but with the growing interest in the music program, there aren't enough instruments for all of the students to use.
These pianos will give my students the opportunity to learn how to plan an instrument for the first time!
Many cannot afford instruments to rent or music lessons. School is the only place they will have the chance to learn an instrument. I am very excited that their interest in music is growing, but I do not have enough instruments for my current classroom.
