My students need books we can read together as a class. I'm looking to get class sets of Charlotte's Web, Flat Stanley, and The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our classroom we are excited about learning and exploring the world around us. Although my students come from very diverse backgrounds, they are excited by similar things: learning, reading, exploring, and growing as students. Many of my students are English Language Learners, and most do not come from language rich homes. They all benefit from shared learning experiences with their peers. Each year I read a variety of books aloud to my students. I have seen their curiosity expand, their enthusiasm for learning grow, and their own reading comprehension deepen. They love to take what they learned in reading and express it creatively through art, and writing. Reading books aloud is just the beginning of the literacy journey in our classroom. We use the books we read to have deeper conversations about character, family dynamics, diversity, and community. We use books to help us grow as people and inspire us to better creativity. The creativity in our classroom is mind-blowing!
My Project
With our new classroom sets of books, my students will be able to read with their peers as we explore stories together. The books "Charlotte's Web", "Miraculous Journey", and "Flat Stanley" will be foundational to the culture of our classroom. It will support my goal of providing as many language rich experiences for my students as I possibly can. I read picture books at the rug, provide opportunities for independent reading, and read chapter books aloud with my students. I love seeing students get excited about reading, and for many this will be their first experience reading a chapter book aloud. These books will help create a positive early experience with reading. It will help my students build their confidence as they read independently, and it will help them have a starting point for discussions with their peers about the books they are reading. My students have a deep desire to learn, they just need as many resources as they can get to help enhance their learning opportunities. The classroom sets will benefit my current second grade class, as well as classes I will have for many years to come. I am excited to see the positive difference these books will make in our classroom.
