My Students
The Head Start, Prekindergarten-3 students enrolled in my dual-language (English and Spanish) classroom each year, represent many languages, and countries. Most students are from South and Central America. Others represent Turkey, and Korea, to name a few.
While several students have an Individual Education Plan (IEP), still there are other students who have developmental delays.
Yet, they are all developing cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. They need support to develop skills, and have their needs met.
Consequently, it is imperative that my students receive plentiful opportunities to engage in rich experiences inside, and outside of the classroom. An emphasis is placed on the acquisition of English and Spanish-speaking skills. Opportunities to engage in music enhances language, and all areas of growth and development. It is my goal to provide engaging activities for my young learners that promote skills and concepts through music!
My Project
Early experiences in music lead young children to become successful learners! The drums, tamborines, kazoos, and shakers are rhythm instruments that will encourage my young learners to become comfortable, and confident with their bodies. As they respond to the cd's that present music from various parts of the world, my Pre-K/Special Needs students will develop skills, and concepts in language and literacy in our dual-language classroom. Most notably, my young learners will also have the opportunity to develop socially, emotionally, physically, and cognitively - while having exposure to various genres of music, and interacting with rhythm instruments that represent their linguistically and culturally diverse backgrounds!
