This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The books I am requesting will enhance our library by providing books about the civil rights movement that my students can read and relate to. Students will be able to read about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the friends, family, and allies who helped with the civil rights movement. When students read about Georgia Gilmore in the book Pies from Nowhere and Aretha Franklin in Sing, Aretha, Sing! they will get a glimpse into how working together can make a difference.

By donating to our project, you will provide students with the opportunity to read about the civil rights movement independently.

The students will be able to check out the books and read them with their families.
