Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach the best 7th grade civics students at a museum magnet school. It is my goal to make them into productive and active citizens of the 21st century.
My students attend a Title I school where 95% of students are receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
Our school is located in one of our city's oldest neighborhoods. We offer a humanities-based museum magnet program throughout the school, and we are working hard on passing our state-mandated, end-of-course exam and improving our literacy scores.
My Project
Civics can be a difficult subject for students in the 7th grade to grasp, but my goal is to change that! I envision a class where students discuss current and past events, how our government worked in the past and today, and I want students to be able to share their thoughts and opinions without feeling insecure.
Therefore, I am in need of some post it notes, paper, and colored pencils so students can use them as responses to daily warm ups and current event prompts.
I want students to be able to share their thoughts - be it in written or picture form - and I think the post its would be the way to go! I would also like the cardstock and toner for creating bingo cards for review purposes and the bingo chips for students to use as markers. I would also like the labels to create individual bags for each student. The pencil pouches would be used to store the colored pencils and have as class sets.
We can't wait to get started. Please support our classroom!
