Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
When you walk into my classroom, you will see my students working in pairs, in small groups and there is definitely a buzz. You will see students working on Chromebooks, iPad minis, and even personal smartphones. My students are used to using many different modalities to demonstrate their understanding. They are a group of 7th and 8th graders who are English-language learners and Spanish-language learners. They have been learning in both languages since kindergarten in our school, which is a K-8 grade school model.
My Project
My students use technology in the classroom as well as outside of the classroom. I currently have a class set of Chromebooks that we use everyday. I would like to have three Chromebooks and three cases for my classroom to be used for lending. Many of my students have smartphones and/or tablets. Some have access to devices at home, while other do not have any at all. This project will help my students who have that disadvantage.
My students will benefit from having the opportunity to borrow a Chromebook to complete assignments that require the use of online programs like TenMarks and KhanAcademy.
