I teach 5th grade at Helena Intermediate School. I teach two classes of twenty eight students, English and language arts. We spend a lot of time together each day and we become a school family as the year progresses. Although each child has different backgrounds, abilities, and interest we share ideas and support each other in order to achieve more.
I have 56 incredible minds that come to my class each day to learn reading and writing skills.
In my class we learn to work together to become better readers and writers while also learning to respect each other, take care of our classroom and responsibilities, and try our best.
My Project
We have 28 students in each class and five Chromebooks. When we work in small groups to complete assignments each group has 7 students, and two students do not have a computer to use. This makes everything harder. With seven Chromebooks my students will be able to work in groups to become better authors by peer editing. They will also be able to complete book studies and online activities to improve reading comprehension.
Having two new Chromebooks will allow each student to improve their reading and writing skills while working together to make every project better!
We will use the Chromebooks to become better authors and investigators. We will also use them to become better readers and test takers by practicing reading comprehension and by completing interactive activities. These Chromebooks will be stored in my classroom and will help future classes too.
