My Students
My school is located in the city of Chicago; most of the students are economically disadvantaged. Students have experienced trauma, poverty, and academic struggles. Every day, students are faced with challenges both outside of and within the classroom.
Despite the challenges my students face, they come into my classroom everyday ready to learn and grow in their knowledge of mathematics.
Their desire to learn motivates me everyday and pushes me to grow as a teacher. Together we strive for academic growth and success.
My Project
Each student in my special education math classroom has his or her own strengths and needs. It is my desire to create a classroom that is centered around each individual student. I am requesting five Chromebooks to help accomplish that goal.
The Chromebooks will allow the students to explore online resources and engage with online math activities promoting growth in mathematical understanding.
My students will engage in STEM education through problem-solving and creativity. They will begin by using an on-line learning platform to create multi-media interactive posters. Additionally, students will practice concepts that we are learning in class through both online assignments and through online games. I strive to have every student access grade-level content in a meaningful way; these Chromebooks will help to achieve this. Through this approach, I hope my students will remain energized and engaged in their academic journey!
