Chromebooks Save The Day

My students need six Chromebooks to improve digital literacy, reading, writing, and research skills.

My Students

During a typical day in our classroom, we rotate through reading, writing, and science centers, create projects connecting social studies and language arts, sing content-based songs, learn math concepts through hands-on experiences, and explore the world around us! We love to have fun!

My 30 students have a passion for learning!

The majority of my students are Hispanic, English-learners, and participate in the free/reduced lunch program. Everyday, we have fun exploring the world around us through literacy and hands-on activities. The one thing that's missing is access to technology. Many of my students are at risk of not passing the new Common Core assessments at the end of the year, due to lack of digital literacy skills. We are able to visit the computer lab once a week to practice a reading program, but that's not enough. I don't want a lack of technology to hinder their learning potential.

My Project

I will use these 6 Chromebooks to ensure that all 30 of my students have access to technology 4-5 times a week. I have set up Google Classroom for my students, where they can produce authentic writing and turn it into me digitally. We just need the computers! We will also be able to do research projects, create digital reports, learn about current events through newsela.com, and have virtual discussions. My students need practice forming their thoughts and expressing them on the computer. This skill is a lot different, and much more challenging, than using paper and pencil.

Donations to this project will improve my students lives drastically.

Many of them do not have access to computers at home. They will have access to technology EVERYDAY, which is essential in preparing them to be productive members of today's world. They will become better readers, writers, researchers, and communicators. Please help this project wish become a reality!
