Mrs. Lundquist from Houston TX is requesting Computers & Tablets through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need Chromebooks in the classroom to enhance and support their learning. By taking their learning digital, students can be in the driver seat. They can create, explore, and discover using these chrome books.
I work at a school which is an Environmental Science magnet school in Houston. The school is home to so many amazing students. We teach both neighborhood students, and also students who have applied to come to our school that live in other areas. We are 95% Hispanic, and over 85% on free or reduced lunch. We are a Title 1 school, and have a broad range of students from gifted and talented, English as a second language, special education, and just all around amazing.
My 5th grade students are in their last year of elementary, and they look forward to fifth grade because they get to be the oldest kids in the school.
They have a love of learning, and truly a love for technology. 5th grade is such a fun year because the students really start taking control of their own learning. They become more independent, and learn how to work with others more efficiently. They are at a fun age, and always keep you on your toes!
Chromebooks will help support and foster a love of learning in my classroom. Education is far behind with technology, and we are losing our students' interest by not keeping up with what they love. By using Chromebooks in the classroom, my students are immediately more engaged, and in the driver seat of their learning.
Having Chromebooks in the classroom allows for limitless possibilities for my students and their learning.
When students use them, they can create a Google Slide presentation over an ecosystem, make a poster on my wall over 3 digit by 2 digit multiplication, read interesting and engaging books on My On, or research a topic they are interested in during genius hour. The sky is the limit, and it puts students in charge of their education. Our district utilizes the many advantages of Google Drive. Each student has a specific log in and can create, save, and make many different projects that are saved to their Google Drive. They also have digital resources on a platform called The HUB where they can practice many different subjects such as reading, math science, and even typing skills.
My students will love and cherish these Chromebooks. They will be used daily, and allow more creativity in my own lessons as a teacher. We can inspire students to explore the world around them, and make their education relevant and engaging through the use of Chromebooks.
