By having Chromebooks in the classroom, the possibilities are endless for students. They can be a part of a Google Classroom, and not only take quizzes online and complete digital task cards, but they can also demonstrate their own learning in so many ways. Giving students access to technology deepens their understanding, and makes students more independent thinkers. They can do research for a science project, use Padlet to answer reflection questions from a lesson, create their own Powerpoint, record a video to display their learning, practice their math facts, or watch Brain Pop videos for science. The list can go on and on. Technology provides so many opportunities for learning, but those opportunities are not available if the technology is not available. Our school currently has a goal of getting 1 chrome book for every 2 students in grades 3-5. However, with state funding that goal will be nearly impossible. By the time we get the Chromebooks, we will be another 5 years behind in technology. By funding Chromebooks for our classroom, you are giving students a chance to make their learning authentic, and preparing them for the real world.
