My students deserve the best education possible. They are extremely talented, energetic fifth graders, who always seem to put out their best effort in all that they do.
This year's fifth graders live in Manhattan's Chinatown.
They are superstars! Many of them are English language learners and students with special learning needs. Many live in single parent homes or they live with grandparents while their parents live in another state. Each student receives free or reduced-price lunch. No matter what they face each and every day they give it their all each and every day with a smile!
My Project
Over the past few years, my class has received a few Chromebooks here and a few Chromebooks there. As I try to build my Chromebook Library, I'm trying to get a class set. A lot of the work is completed through partnerships or groups, however I do think about a day when I will have a full class set of Chromebooks.
Fifth grade math has never looked so sophisticated.
Beginning in September, my students will need to work on many Math Based projects. With the help of the Chromebooks their projects will get organized. With the use of the Chromebooks they will create 3-D creations in order to explore the Volume Unit. Later on in the year we will use a 3-D printer to print out their creations in order to learn about volume. They will use the Chromebooks to complete their calculations. When we work on Decimals they will need their Chromebooks to Explore Money and a Dream Vacation. They will use the Chromebooks to play math games.
This is why it's necessary for there to be Chromebooks Here and Chromebooks There! But Definitely a Chromebook for Everyone! One Day!
