Our small charter middle school is located in a small, tight-knit beach community. Our commitment to teaching our students leadership skills is often displayed as they serve our community and earn reputations as responsible, kind young adults.
My yearbook students are incredibly special; they work so very hard to document events and design a student-led yearbook for their peers.
The commitment they show every day gives me so much hope for their futures. I am blessed to call myself their teacher!
My Project
Over the last two years, we have developed an amazing yearbook crew here at SLA. The students decide on the theme, take the photographs, conduct the interviews, take ownership of documenting events and trends, and design and lay out the entire yearbook in an online design program.
I have a group of 24 students who are eager to create a student-led yearbook from cover to cover, but we are lacking the technology to put the book together; Chromebooks would help us do this!
Our charter school is small, and the computer that we have need to be utilized for computer application courses and online courses. A set of Chromebooks in my classroom devoted to the yearbook would make such a difference in the lives of students who work so hard to create something that their peers will keep for a lifetime!
