Every year, one of my favorite units is Literature Circles. During Lit. Circles, groups of 4-6 students read one book, with each group in the class reading a different book. This is a student-led unit, with the students in charge of which book their group will read, as well as their discussions and lessons they learn from the books. Our school has some Literature Circle books, but many of them are outdated. I would love to update our Literature Circle choices with books that were written in the last 15 years and are of high interest to my students. In addition, many of our current books have high Lexiles, which is great for my advanced students. However, we could use a couple of choices that have lower reading levels, but are still age appropriate and interesting to 8th graders. Thank you for helping our project!
