Chromebooks for the Classroom

My students need 10 Chromebooks to develop 21st century technology skills, be able to research online, and produce computer generated work while in the classroom.

My Students

Gone are the days when history was only about names, dates, and events. In my classroom, my students don't just learn history, they experience it. My students are the historians that investigate the past through research and various sources to better understand history and their world today.

I teach 7th and 8th grade students at a public middle school in California.

They are a very diverse group of students coming from various religious, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Despite these differences, my students are brought together by a common love of learning. My students are digital natives knowing only a life filled with technology. However, many of them do not have the skills and tools to properly navigate the many technologies that surround them and struggle to see how technology can enhance their education. My school is a brand new middle school in its second year since opening. With a larger enrollment this year, there are fewer opportunities to use the computer lab or access available technology at school.

My Project

Chromebooks will allow my students to learn how to properly conduct research using the Internet in the classroom. They will also be able to access their work on a cloud drive whenever they need to. Finally, with the abundance of apps available on the Chromebooks, my students will be able to create online posters, videos, flashcards, presentations, and other types of mediums to demonstrate their understanding of the content. Chromebooks will allow my students to extend their learning beyond the textbook and the classroom walls.

The Chromebooks would allow me to set up stations in my classrooms for small groups of students to share.

Small groups support a collaborative learning environment which helps each student work to their potential.
