Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom is a fun loving environment, filled with students who take care of each other. We are a family who encourages one another. Everyday we work diligently to overcome our learning disabilities. Our motto, "Fair isn't always equal, it's getting what you need"

For years my students have struggled with basic reading, writing and math skills.

Each of my students have a learning disability that makes it difficult for them to achieve general education standards. The majority of my students are English language learners which compounds their learning difficulties. My students work hard everyday to find success in classes they find challenging. Traditional instruction is hard for them to understand but using technology always makes them excited about learning. They are learning 21st century skills such as email communication, media literacy, web based research, coding, word processing and much more. Although we are a low-income school, we try our very best to integrate technology into our instruction.

My Project

Chromebooks could help my students out tremendously with their 21st century skills. Our entire school operates on the Google Drive cloud with documents, spreadsheets, forms and presentation file sharing. Many English Language arts assignments require my students to research articles on the Internet and essay writing. Their disabilities make it difficult for them to write out full essays with correct sentence structures and spelling. The use of a word processor improves the organizational flow and correct grammar, punctuation and spelling so they can produce quality compositions regardless of their learning difference. These Chromebooks would be used during pull out sessions to conduct research and complete written essays. They will also be used for intervention sessions in reading, writing and math online programs to help my students with their basic skills.

Access to tools that help my students overcome their disabilities are imperative to their success.Through the incorporation of technology, my students have become more engaged and excited to learn.

The more exposure they have to fun learning, the more they enjoy being in school and dream of higher education for their futures. I want all of my students to achieve their dreams. I hope I can provide them with the education that they deserve and give them the tools necessary reach their goal.
